Introductory Remarks
We may well begin our discussion to reflect the title I have taken the liberty to impose on the theme and sub-theme as imposed on me by the organisers of this now familiar and important exercise called retreat which is at the instance of the highly respected Governor of Ondo State, our own Chief Adebayo Adefarati.
So, permit me if you can, to skip the ‘due process’ as customary with occasions like this. I shall not follow any standard protocol by way of greetings in the ‘order of precedence’. My reasons are simple: One, it is time-consuming and the value derivable from such protocol is minimal, if there is any at all. Two, I have never gotten used to it because it has never mattered to me, so long as ‘you are not greeting me’ bears no ill will towards me. Yet, my non-recognition of protocol is not a reflection of disrespect of ‘constituted authority’.
