KEEPING FAITH WITH HISTORY– THE MIMIKO STORY IN ONDO STATE (FEBRUARY 2009 – FEBRUARY 2017)

Opening Remarks

As  a Lagos-born and bred boy, my studentship at University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) in the 70s was a vantage position to the gateway of Ondo State, then inclusive of the present Ekiti State. Back then, it was possible that out of every 10 fellow student-acquaintances one had, seven were more likely to be indigenes of Ondo State. Thus, by accident of history and convenience of geography, Ondo State became the ‘Igbo Olodumare’ for me to explore as many of those Ondo State-born fellow students and friends were home-based. Therefore, one had the opportunity of travelling to some towns hitherto considered far-flung like Akure, Ondo town, Irele, Igbokoda, Igbotako, hometowns of the Lebiles, the Magbuawons, the Odimayos and the Akinadewos. Good fellows all.
