OMOYELE SOWORE AND THE REST OF US

Long before now, I have seen Sowore as ‘another human rights activist’, many of whom are no more than ‘human ricetivists’ But Sowore has proven to be different from the vastly disappearing specie called ‘activists’.He has proven to be a long distant runner, with enduring capacity of a marathoner.Yet, he has one thing going for him, like Peter Obi, he has personal integrity, to the extent that inspite of his frontal attacks on the Nigerian ruining, sorry, ruling class, especially in the area of stealing of public funds and criminality, no one has been able to come up with anything to do with corruption against him.Truth is, you don’t do what Omoyele Sowore has done to successive Nigerian rulers, and is still doing to the current charlatans of power, masquerading as champions of the realm, without getting hung up on a pole for various serious misdemeanors.Trust the Nigeria criminal enterprise, its handlers would have fished out something from the murky waters with which their ‘data boys’ would broadcast.I guess they are afraid of the repercussions of such risky resorts. At least not after Nyesom Wike’s verbal accident that had landed him in a ‘Florida infirmary’.
The reality of the Nigerian prebendalist political environment is that, the youthful generation, for whom Sowore should signpost hope, suffers chronic Stockholm syndrome, so much that they cannot even mobilise themselves to rally around him with their votes to get him to work for their socio-economic redemption. How I wish Peter Obi and Omoyele Sowore can accommodate one another to maximise their collective efforts, reduce their individual weaknesses, and take advantage of available opportunities on the political space- all for a better Nigeria
With the likes of Peter Obi, Omoyele Sowore, one young man called VDM, another one called ‘Peter for Nigeria’ on Electoral reform campaign and the ‘trenches lady ‘ in Edo state, the future still has a chance of being rescued. But they must eschew individual disagreements if a common goal is to be achieved.
