ON THE ARROGANT DECLARATION OF SOWORE WANTED BY THE COMMISSIONER OF POLICE IN LAGOS STATE

On the arrogant declaration of Sowore wanted by the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, note that, once the power of impunity is enthroned over the rule of law and due process, the imminent death of justice for the poor and the vulnerable is assured. Pray, what authority does the boss of Lagos State police command has to declare a citizen wanted for attempting to join a peaceful protest over a perceived injustice done to fellow citizens? Or, is there a separate law in Lagos state that foreclose peaceful protest in Lagos state, as the victims of Oworonsoki house owners whose property were illegally demolished wanted to do, and for which Omoyele Sowore, a human rights activist, arrived in Lagos in solidarity? If Sowore had committed any offence against a known law, has he been formally invited by the authorities, and he had declined to respond ? Even at that, was there a warrant of arrest issued by a court of competent jurisdiction for his arrest for failure to respond to court summons to answer to charges of felony or misdemeanor ? I guess, this over zealous police officer, a man without character, is out to impress “owners of Lagos” that he is capable of doing to Sowore what Abuja has not been able to do to the human rights activist: apply the final solution.Otherwise, why the belicose stand.I think this police officer should learn from the lessons of history, as his retired former Comrades are learning in a hard way- dumped, haven been fully used to commit series of crimes, camouflaged as official duties, against fellow citizens. As Yoruba people, in their collective wisdom would say:ti a ba ran ni ni’se eru, aa fi t’omo je, meaning, if you are sent on a slave erand, you should endeavour to deliver such message as a free born
