Description

Orthodox development analysts often proceed with a description and explanation of underdevelopment on the basis of assumptions of which they are not aware, and to which they are not able to adopt a critical attitude. Faced with development or under-development which fundamental bases are not duly acknowledged, conventional economists often retreat behind the twin veil of obscurantism and tyranny of figures, vainly hoping to establish the causes of poverty in Africa in particular, and the Third World in general, by measuring and correlating the appearances and effects of underdevelopment.

The main problem of classical epistemology is that it regards the society as mere collection of elements which are externally related to one another and having no common underlying principles.

Development of Underdevelopment responds, developing the conceptual tool of critical analysis, anchored on the validity of history, to the various wrong assumptions and misconceptions at the base of the historical liberal epistemology. The viable and valuable perspective is to understand the intra-relationship amongst nations of the world as not only organic in conception but necessary in character. It thus reject the inorganic and contingent inter-relationship interpretation of the dynamics of the world political economy.

In brilliantly accomplishing this task, the author further succeeds in helping us to keep aflame the fire of profound thinking, which is the forte of philosophical minds without which it is impossible to expand the frontier of knowledge, progress and development. Wale Are Olaitan, Political theorist.
