Introductory Remarks
Here, we are confronted with the vexed issue of the need to respond to the National Questionwith respect to the development agenda for Africa. In a letter conveying the request for my modest intervention to me, I am enjoined not to do an advocacy for a particular ideological spectrum. Rather, as a ‘quasi-scholarly’ platform, a discussion on ‘the nature, inherent power and need of ideology as a putative theory and practice’ will be appropriate. A fulsome mandate indeed from a supposed quasi-scholarly platform. One wonders what the request of men would have been were they to be an academic journal in philosophy.
