Opening Remark
Students’ unionism means different things to different people, depending on individual or group’s ideological inclination. But one thing is certain; students’ unionism is hardly in the good books of those outside of tertiary institutions. Worse still, within the peer group there are divergent opinions on the role of students as a collective body. No doubt, each of these varying and conflicting suggestions could be subjective, just as it could be misleading.
Permit me, Mr. President, at this juncture to once again use this privileged platform to join in welcoming accredited delegates, observers and interest parties to this unique and epoch-making convention.
