Court Orders, Status Quo, and the ADC Crisis: Why INEC Got It Wrong

It would not  have been the intention of the  Court of Appeal, and neither does it serve the purpose of any trial for the pronouncement of the court to leave the leadership of a party in hostility leaderless, whilst the trial subsist in court. The court had the option of the existing pronouncement, “maintain the status quo ante bellum”( let parties stay where they were) or, pronounce Nafiu Bala as the Chairman or affirm David Mark as Chairman, a position Bala had  gone to court to challenge. Thus, it is sheer irresponsibility and mischievous for the Independent National Electoral  Commission (INEC) to declare the leadership of ADC vacant when, indeed, the leadership of the party was not vacant, as the party had a leader before the declaration of hostility.
